Course History:
Wolf Run Golf Club is a very nice course that is a little expensive to play but well worth the trip. The course was designed to fit right into the landscape, which means it can be quite challenging to play at times. It quickly became a local favorite and golfers from all over the world travel to take a crack at this tough but fun course.
What You Need to Know:
You can book a tee time up to fourteen days in advance either by phone or online. The practice facilities are definitely state of the art and the 10,000 square foot practice green is essential before heading out on the course. They also include a 100 yard short game practice area as well as a newly remodeled driving range. Overall, the practice facilities are some of the nicest in the area.
The pro shop is very well stocked and you'll find just about everything under the sun that's related to golf. It's a great place to shop for golfers on your list, especially if they think they already have everything. The club restaurant is out of this world and offers a great mix of high-end fare mixed with comfort food.
The course does not specifically state that they have a dress code, but please keep in mind that this is a very nice and exclusive facility. We recommend collared shirts and slacks for both men and women playing this course. You may want to bring soft spikes since most courses in this area are soft spike facilities.
Playing Hints:
This is a challenging course that offers a good mix of different shots that all work towards perfecting your game. Don't expect to master it in one go-round, unless you're already a pro. However, that's part of the fun and you'll definitely want to keep going back to give it another shot.
The fairways undulate and at times, you may be hard pressed to see where to go with your next shot. They don't go overboard with tips on the scorecard either, so you'll be playing the first round pretty much blind. We recommend working on accuracy since some of the roughs are incredibly tough. The greens are very fast and you'll need to really work on putting accuracy and speed to find the right mix.
There are also plenty of water hazards that definitely make your round a challenge. You'll want to do your best to shoot over them, but in some cases, you may be better served with a short shot that will put you in a better position to get over the hazard. The key to this course is definitely using the right club at the right time.
