Course History:

This course was originally a nine hole course that opened in 1937. The second nine was added on in 1991. The course stretches out over 6300 yards and is a common pick on Golf Digest’s list of the top 25 courses in California. It is a very scenic course that offers enough of a challenge for professionals without overwhelming novices. The Par 71 course was designed by Robert Muir Graves, ASGCA and Dr. Allister McKenzi.

Overall, this is a very fun course that offers a relaxing round of golf while still having enough difficulty to be challenging.

What You Need to Know:

The course is rated at 70.7 and has a slope rating of 127 on rye grass. The driving range includes 40 tees and we’ve included their practice rates below. Lessons are available for all levels of players and this information is also included below.

The city holds their championship at the course every year and this is a premier destination for many players. Numerous events are also held at the course and locals and visitors enjoy all that there is to do each year.

Tee times can be booked by calling ahead or by visiting their website. Please note that the course offers many online specials and if you wish to take advantage of these, you must use their online tee time booker. They also offer an email club where you can get advanced notifications of upcoming specials and events that are held at the club.

You can also find a complete tour of the course on their site which goes through the more difficult holes as well as giving some strategy tips for mastering them.

Playing Hints:

The first seven holes are deceptively easy and may give you the impression that the course is a simple one. Hole eight should completely change your mind. The fairway slopes in both directions and there are hazards all the way to the green. Use your best aim and the right combination of clubs to get through this monster hole.
