Course History:

The Ocean course was opened in 1997 and has instantly become an area favorite. The older course can also be played if you prefer a little variety. The Ocean course was designed by Arthur Hills and offers challenging play that is suitable for all skill levels. The Par 72 course is open all year round and features more than 6500 yards of playable space. There is a fully stocked pro shop on the premises as well as a clubhouse. Lessons are also available. Tournaments are played here all through the year and you can also book your own special event.

What You Need to Know:

Please note that you must cancel your tee time within 24 hours or the course will have to charge you the full fee. There is a dress code at this course and players must wear collared shirts. Denim is prohibited and the course asks that all players refrain from wearing metal spikes. Tee times can be reserved by calling the clubhouse or by reserving them online.

According to management, there are other restrictions about which you should be aware:

“Cart Policy - The Old Course: walking is not permitted. Carts are seasonally permitted onto the fairway at a 90 degree angle, no carts on par-threes. The Ocean course: walking is permitted. Carts are seasonally permitted onto the fairway at a 90 degree angle, except on the par-threes and holes 2, 14 and 16.

Pace of Play - In order to be fair to all players on a course at any one time, we have a set pace of play at 4.5 hours for 18 holes. Should a group be consistently out of position the group may be required to skip a hole(s) to regain proper position, for the enjoyment of the rest of the field.”

Playing Hints:

Right off the bat you’ll have to deal with one heck of a dog leg on the first hole. It’s easy enough with the right approach, but you may want to use your long irons instead of a wood.

The ninth hole has a notorious bunker that you’ll want to avoid. You may want to use your nine iron on your second shot to avoid falling prey to this monster.

The fourteenth hole is all uphill so be prepared to really let this one fly off the tee. Once you’re at your second shot, try a wood to make it to the green for a birdie opportunity.

The seventeenth hole features a nice cliff, so it’s recommended to iron out the tee shot and then carefully approach the green.
