Course History:

This gorgeous course was designed by Johnny Miller and since it opened, quickly became a favorite among locals and visitors. It is challenging enough for most professionals to enjoy a round while not being intimidating for novice players. It’s the perfect course for a quick getaway in the scenic Napa region.

What You Need to Know:

There is a dress code on this course. They ask that you wear collared shirts and slacks. Please keep in mind that denim, cutoffs and tank tops are strictly forbidden. It’s a good idea to change out your spikes if they are metal just in case. The course does not specifically state this, but most in this area do adhere to a soft spike policy.

The Pro Shop is incredibly well stocked and offers all of the latest gear and apparel. It’s the perfect place to pick up a few gifts for others and yourself. The grill at the clubhouse serves lunch daily. There is also a bar for those who like to really relax after a tough round.

Numerous tournaments and special events are held at the club every year. It’s always a good idea to call ahead to book your tee time, but the course does not have an online tee time registration service at this time. This is a pretty popular course, so it’s a good idea to reserve your time by about two weeks in advance.

Playing Hints:

There are numerous water hazards on the course, so you’ll want to watch for drift on several holes. You’ll also be dealing with some dog legs and some narrow fairways, so accuracy is definitely a plus on this course. The rough areas are well designed and can be quite challenging if you end up there.

The sixth hole presents a great challenge since you’ll be driving across a lake to hit the green on this short par three. You’ll want to really give this one a good hit off the tee to avoid the lake. However, don’t overpower it too much or you’ll end up overshooting the mark. This hole takes quite a bit of practice to master.

The ninth hole also has a smaller water hazard right off the tee, but this shouldn’t affect most players too much. The eighteen hole is a bit challenging but with practice, this is a great hole to birdie to salvage the damage done by the other holes on the course. All in all, this is a very fun course to play that will take some time to get used to, but it’s well worth the trip.
