Course History:
This course was designed by Keith Foster and is considered to be one of the more unique courses in the area. This is not a course you’ll only want to play once. After you finish your first round, chances are, you’ll be coming back again and again.
Since it opened in 2002, it has been showered with accolades. Golf Magazine named it in the top ten Courses You Can Play while Golf Digest stated it was one of the most affordable public courses in the area. The 7000 yard Par 72 course was designed with the elements in mind and they worked very hard to leave the natural beauty of the location in place. The result is a visually stunning course that is challenging and fun to play.
What You Need to Know:
This course does have a dress code and they ask that you wear a collared shirt. They do however allow dress denim, but no cutoffs please. No alcohol or coolers are allowed on the course. The club house does serve plenty of food and drink so you can stock up there.
You can register your tee time up to thirty days in advance by calling the number listed above. You can also book your tee time using their online registration system. This course is home to numerous events throughout the year, so it is a good idea to check with the course to make sure it is available.
The practice facilities are incredible here and very popular. The pro shop has all the latest gear and apparel and lessons are also available. This is definitely a course that you should make time to visit.
Playing Hints:
The holes here are pretty straightforward and well suited to both professionals and novices. Water hazards are kept to a minimum and include a creek that goes through several holes. However, it is not terribly wide so it does not pose a problem for most players. The bunkers however are another matter entirely. Choose your approach shot well or you could end up deeply in the hole.
The rough is incredibly rough on this course so you’re going to want to really work on your accuracy. Try to stay as close to the center of the fairways as possible, but watch out for the trees. They can throw off even the best players.
The eighth hole is possibly one of the most challenging on the course. You’ll be hopping over the rough to get to each section of the fairway and another patch separates the green. Do your best to get a really long drive off the tee and then use your nine iron to make it on to the green from there.
