Course History:
This course is actually two in one, with the East and West course. By far, the East Course is the more difficult one, but both are enjoyable to play. Novices may feel more comfortable starting out on the West Course until they get the hang of the course.
The course is extremely idyllic and most people find that a round played here is the perfect mini-getaway. The heart of the Carmel Valley is a spectacular place for a golf course and this is definitely one of the finest in the area.
What You Need to Know:
Although these courses are not particularly long, you will need a bit of skill to master them. However, the greens are well kept and the atmosphere is quite relaxing and fun. Although the course does not specifically state that they have a dress code, it is best to wear a collared shirt and trousers. We also recommend soft spikes.
The pro shop is completely stocked with all the latest gear, apparel and equipment and has something for just about everyone. The clubhouse offers absolutely divine meals and is a great place to relax after your round. They also offer catering and special events hosting, and it is a local favorite, even among non golfers.
Playing Hints:
As we mentioned previously, the key to mastering this course is accuracy and skill. It may take a few rounds before you get the hang of some of the more difficult holes, but overall, this course is well suited to professionals and amateurs alike. The East Course is a bit more difficult, so we recommend starting off on the West Course for your first round, unless you are looking for a challenge.
The West Course has a rating of 71.4 with a slope rating of 125. The Par 71 course is easily walkable and the course actually encourages this. The long par 6 hole is a great place to make up for lost ground and the seventeenth hole also offers players this opportunity. It’s easy enough to birdie both holes if you keep to the center of the fairway and really hit it off the tee.
