Course History:
The legendary golfing great Arnold Palmer designed this course and it offers a wonderful challenge for all players. From the dramatic changes in elevation to the tricky greens, you’ll have loads of fun at this course. All levels of players are welcome and most find that it is not too difficult to complete the course. Numerous events are held every year and the course restaurant is available for catering events.
Check their website often for web specials to save even more money on their already reasonable green fees. Their special packages make it easy for everyone to afford playing here. The course is open to the public seven days a week and features terrific course conditions. A scorecard is available online or at the pro shop to keep track of your progress.
What You Need to Know:
There is a dress code at this course. Collared shirts are required and no denim is allowed. Shorts are allowed but must be knee length. Lessons are available to all players from the pro staff. Please keep in mind that this is a no-metal spike course. The staff asks that you switch out your spikes before arriving.
You can reserve a tee time online or by calling the clubhouse. They offer several different packages for playing that we’ll list below. The golf shop stocks all the latest gear and apparel and The Grille offers lunch and breakfast everyday. You can visit their website to download the menus.
Playing Hints:
If you’re using the Palmer tees, prepare for a challenge on any hole on this course. If you’re new here, it’s best to start on the blue tees and work your way up to using the Palmer tees.
The first hole isn’t too intimidating, but watch out for hole two. It’s a long par five, but with the right approach, you can birdie or even eagle. Pros will find this hole relatively simple, but more challenging ones are to come.
The fifth hole is another killer that will require the right combination of woods and irons if you want to birdie. It’s not impossible to do well on this one but you will need a fair bit of practice to master it.
The sixteenth and eighteenth holes are nearly 600 yards if you are playing the Palmer tees and both offer quite a bit of a challenge. By this point, you may be pretty tired, so the best advice is to give it all you have to get a good first shot and then use your woods one more time to get a better layup to the green.
